Ashley, an 18 year old girl, caught her boyfriend (Theo )cheating on her with a girl aka her so-called best friend, Samantha. 
She's always been a bit jealous of Samantha because she's always gotten the guys. All her crushes in middle school never liked Ashley back. They only had eyes for Samantha.  Apparently, she was more reckless and "fun" than Ashley. This is why Ashley decides to change herself so that people will like her. Everyone in school always thought she was too quiet and looked too nerdy. 

Rhys Morregan, a 19 year old boy, has no family left. He decides to move to New York. He needs a new job, even though he's loaded since his parents were billionaires. He doesn't plan on staying in this house, and only stayed because it was close to his new job. 

He ends up living in the house next to Ashley (who is still heartbroken). She tries to befriend Rhys, but he never comes out of his house. Eventually he opens the door.
