Tal. That's my name. I've lived with another dragon who keeps on claiming to be my mother, but I know she isn't. I was found years ago, abandoned in the mud. My fake 'mother' had raised me in pity. How could my own mother leave my egg there? For me to die?
...I don't know the answer to any of my questions. But I need to find them. It's obvious I'm different- I even have a permit so that other dragons aren't scared that I'm a storm dragon, when I'm really a mix between a water dragon and stone dragon.
I have to find out the truth soon and restore peace! All the water dragons except a very few agree that everything is fine. It's not.

Wings of a New Life
When I woke, I wasn't human anymore. The last thing I remember is the impact-a heavy blow, a flash of light, and then darkness. But when my eyes opened again, everything had changed. My body was no longer my own. My senses were heightened, my movements alien. And I was alone, face down in what seemed like an endless, echoing cave. I can't explain what happened, or why I've been reborn this way. A dragon? How could this be real? With each new discovery, I learn more about the creature I've become-but I also wonder: Was it all an accident? Or is there something more sinister at play? I'm trapped between two worlds-my old life, lost to the shadows, and this new existence, where every step shakes the earth beneath me. But I have no choice. I must learn to survive in this new form. Because I can't shake the feeling... I'm not the only one here.

The dragons have come and gone since the Pliocene epoch when Wooly Mammoths roamed with humans during the ice age. For many of the I and E generation in the Americas and parts of Europe, it was something to avoid being taken by them to their world. But many knew the stories they told, the things they saw and missed, and in this world of social media, the child coming home, reborn as a shifter. For 16-year-old Nathan that was his reality. For 11 years he's not only avoided getting grabbed but helped others avoid a similar fate. But a black dragon was watching him grabbing him only to lay low in the nearby woods, something they did to pick out who'd they take. It did that for 10 years, more than 3 times longer than usual. His actions and the amount of time he had avoided them made him a sort of celebrity in his town in the midwest. But one day that black dragon made its decision, he was to be her hatchling. When they're usually marked the child could turn to protective mode, running from home to prevent drawing attention to other children for the picking, and that's what he did, right to where they last landed. Luck, choice, a possible spell in those claws, whatever you may think doesn't matter. A black dragon never misses its mark. With agility unsurpassed by the other types they're almost impossible to avoid. But these dragons didn't breathe fire, were a threat, nor in any way the size of a 747 max. All they had that was unique from other creatures was a highly evolved brain with the intelligence of a human and a heart of platinum. Note. Some creatures don't belong to me in any way. Dragon Reincarnated (Working title)
As an avid- and fairly unsuccessful- writer of fantasy fiction, I know that dragons are pretty much the pinnacle of existence. I dare anyone to argue. So, when my mundane existence comes to an end and I am offered a choice of whatever race I liked upon reincarnating into a fantasy world, of course I chose dragon. Little did I know that my life as a dragon would take more than its fair share of twists and turns. But hey, I was a dragon... Everyone knows you don't mess with dragons. This is the next one to be added up on Royal Road in a couple days, once Broken's current chapters are done being added :)

I don't get it. I really don't. I died, I get that much. But waking up in a dark and squishy place, with absolutely NO ROOM to move, I DON'T GET. Let's recap. It was a regular day. I got up, ate, showered and went to work. I was a police officer. I was checking out a house call about domestic abuse. I didn't even get to knock on the door before a man bursted out screaming at a women about calling the pigs on him. It didn't take much to figure out he was the abuser with the way he was holding her arm tight enough to bruise. I tried to diffuse the situation, told him to calm down and let her go. He didn't like that. In the end I got shot and died. Then I woke up in a small and dark space and freaked out. Then I get pushed out only to cry and realize I'm a baby.
