Avery Harper is born with a very special power; she has the ability to control the element of fire. Her best friend, Isabella Adams, shares the same unique gift; Isabella with the power to control the water element instead. They both have been keeping their secrets for 14 years from their family. And it is slowly eating them from the inside.

This World
On a war decimated earth, there are few safe places, and even fewer safe cities. All that's left are ruins, woods, and cities where humans are trying to build society again. No one knows the truth behind the war, but it is believed the Strongs began it. And so, to stop it from happening again, they are killed. Most humans now have an affinity of varying strength for one of the elements: fire, earth, water, air, and rarely mind. There are some who have a Strong affinity. The Strongs are able to manipulate the elements - and are killed for it. Fighters are born without an affinity and trained from a young age to kill the Strongs. Their gift of being unaffected by the Strongs' power make them ideal assassins. Makenna is a Strong Fire. She and her best friend Halima, a medium mind, have been on the run from Makenna's mother for the past two years. Drystan Aston, a Fighter, and a childhood friend of Makenna's, is dead set on finding them. I dare to ask. He sits back at the wall staring at me. He runs his eyes down my body and slowly smirks. "Yes," "Good," I say digging my fork into the pasta. I then place the pasta into the carrots... Playing with my food. I have been scolded for this many times when I was back in the Ordinary world. Now there is no one to do that for me. Asher comes closer to me and I could sense the burnt wood in him. I smile as he wraps his arms around me. "Your mine. Only I can look at you that way. Only I can touch you. Only I can kiss you. A Mage's Wrath
Two hundred years of peace have passed in Zertima, a land filled with magic, creatures, and mages. However, after those two hundred years comes an era of fear, fighting, and death. The Venom's Curse, known as the world's greatest danger, has climbed up to reach a level of great power, with the help of his fierce hunger for battle and commanding, that is strong enough to possibly secure his rule of the entire mage world. In order to save Zertima from potential collapse and eternal perishing, four young mages are found, called the Elemental Mages. The Mages - Water, Earth, Fire, and Air - are taken to a sheltered location named the Mage Sanctuary to train together and prepare for their eventual battle with the Venom's Curse and to rid of the trepidation he has cast across all of Zertima. However, not all of the Mages are willing to commit their life to train with the others and help save the mage world. Ignacia, the Elemental Mage of Fire, is the newest and last mage to be Founded and come to the others.
