Hiccup had a friend by the name of Merita that was mostly known as Mery, she was a runt and a outcast like him, Merita had hidden feelings for Hiccup but hid them to protect herself from rejection, a feeling she's known most of her life. when Merita saw Hiccup and the other riders leave Berk to fight the red death she was heart broken that Hiccup didn't try to ask her for help. When he and everyone else got back and once Hiccup was awake Merita and Hiccup got into a agruement causing Hiccup to say something he didn't mean to say which caused Merita to run into the woods, disappearing from Berk, until she reappeared years later as a completely different person. ( P.s: in this fic Hiccup and Astrid are just friends but they used to date, no hate on Hiccstrid )

in this universe, Merita's boss had sent someone to kill Drago and grimmel after Hiccup defeated traitor Johann which were both successful.

You have likely seen it all before, Hiccup gets chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare but instead of staying to try and prove to his village dragons aren't the monsters they think they are, he leaves. Abandons the world he knows for a world of possibility, a world where he can be him, be free. What if he is one day discovered by a group of dragon riders and chose to join them as they had adventure after adventure. It would be a good life but of course it would never stay so happy, things would change sometimes for the better sometimes for worse. Old scars would surface, old lives reappear and new faces vanish, how would this affect him. Well shall we find out? I don't own the How To Train Your Dragon franchise of course and this is all done for fun. You know the legal stuff. I also don't own the image, I got it off of google as one could expect. After their romantic flied which also change her view on dragons, and their discovery of the red death, Hiccup was still planning to run away even though he have just finally friended an actual human, he decided to tell her so he don't have to let her worry about him leaving without a word in the next day. When he finish telling her his plan and surprisingly to hiccup and even Toothless she beg to come with and she also told him her reason. Turns out Astrid Hofferson was abused and pressured by her own family. She have enough of it, Hiccup didn't really have yes as his first nor second choice but she beg him until he gave up and let her tag along. What would happen to them?, will this new path that choose was path to a bright future?,will something spark between them? (Obviously). What would the village have to say about this?
