Matthew Spencer was by no means a ladies man. Girls nor guys were admiring him as he walked down the hallway, he was average looking. There wasn't really anything special about him, except for his weird birthmark but that's not the point. The only girl he could keep around was his best friend, Chloe King. And Chloe saw him as a brother.
So you could understand his confusion when he got to school on the first day of October to find a note attached to his locker. It was a love letter, and it told him that there would be one left on the locker for every single day of the month, on Mondays there would be 3 letters from the weekends. The writer told Matt he had to find out who they were by Halloween, because after that the letters would stop. It even had a name signed at the bottom of it, Erin Quinn. There was only one problem: he didn't know anyone named Erin.

Esther calls her ' sakodo' but she was given the name slit-faced girl by the people who saw her. But those people that feared or saw her died the next day. Why do people die the same? How do people die? Most importantly, what killed them? One day the girl suddenly disappears. Nobody knows where. A few days after she disappeared, all that was left of her was forgotten. Nobody knew who she was. All traces of her were gone. What really happened to that girl? What was her name? Where did she disappear to? What was the girl's backstory? As the story unfolds.
