His entire life, Will Byers had felt like he couldn't catch a break. Bad thing after bad thing always seemed to happen to him. He had an awful father, he got bullied at school, he had been kidnapped by an inter-dimensional creature while biking home, he'd been possessed and had his body taken over by a monster. He'd hoped that after his family had moved to California, maybe he'd finally be able to just live his life. But even then, his life was still lacking. He loved someone who would never love him back and was being ignored by all of his friends. When Vecna curses him, Will isn't sure it's worth fighting back.

[This story takes place 8 months after season 4] Mike has always been in denial about his feelings towards Will. He had pushed him away multiple times because of this denial but now Will and his family is back in Hawkins. Will has been a wreck this past eight months of being back in Hawkins. He couldn't help but feel anxious about the situation at hand. He could feel Vecna regenerating and he was afraid, terrified. He was trying to play it off cool but he just couldn't. One night Will wakes up from a nightmare seeing and feeling Vecna and he doesn't want to be anywhere but back in Michael's room sleeping with him like when they were little. Because of Hawkins destruction and the "gates of hell" many people moved out of it. Hawkins is slowly being crept up upon by the upside down which is now making it's way into reality because of Vecna and there's only one way to stop it and Will knows it.
