 Cassie has been raised by her mother, Bonnie, since she was 3 months old. her mother  and father agree to keep her away from his family and the vow of always and forever. He always tried his best to be a part of that but always felt left out and which that vow never applied to him. They both  agree that Bonnie would raise her until the age of 18, and at 18 years, it would be up to cassie to choose if she wants to know her father and his family.
 
This book is like a redo of season 5 without they big bad that led to klaus and elijah  death, so in this story, they are still  alive  beyond  season  5.
