In the days before the Tokugawa Era in Japan, there was a city renowned for the legends created within it. Of those legends, the most well known were of the red light district where a tayu by the name of Izanami was housed. After years of careful work, she erected an elaborate spy network that managed an entire nation. However, when rumors of the work from a blood thirsty Ronin from the courtesan's past spring up, she can't help but wonder at how useful her beloved network truly is.
On the other side of the country, history is being forged in a war between samurai and shinobi where only the names of the elite stand out. When the war threatens to engulf Izanami's home, Shinwa, she realizes she must find some way to protect her town, even if that means traveling with the blood thirsty ronin whose very existence threatens the entire world's future.
