The virus had taken its claim: a world fallen into ruin with nothing left but memories of a better time for those old enough to remember. But those that do remember and live to tell it are few and far between.

Elisabet lived with her mom for most of her life until the cancer took its hold. No with no one left but memories of her family, she decides that it's time to find the one she lost when they were just children. A feeling in her gut says that he's still alive, and when a promising tip comes from a Pilgrim passing through their small settlement, she embarks on a journey that she knows holds no promises.

She travels across a broken land with her partner, Russell, by her side, facing against the dangerous infected that rule the world and the even more treacherous humans that decided to become more like monsters than people to survive.

Being constantly chased and attacked by them for unknown reasons, she finds shelter and something to fight for when she joins a hidden and humble group of survivors in Colorado. As time goes by, Hannah takes comfort in the shelter and begins to share her problems with the survivors of the group. She learns new things and shares what she has learned with her former groups in other parts of the United States. Doubts arise as more things happen and solutions appear when she finds out that the biggest problem of all has been right under their noses all along. Literally.
