Taking place after the Sasuke retrieval mission, Naruto is given a choice by Danzo to either join his root program as his weapon, or be executed instantly and the nine tails will be stored and sealed into someone else. With no other choice Naruto flees as Danzo ultimately finds the advantage to take over the village as his own.
Years later a mysterious figure stalks and strikes fear in Danzo's Root, bringing hope to those who despise Danzo's Rule in their once peaceful village.

(And no, Naruto did not meet kurama in the chunin exams in this alternate world. The exams were interrupted before Narutos and Nejis match, Gaara and Sasuke's battle came first leading to the invasion happening earlier, so Naruto vs Nej didn't happen.)
