Leather Dreams

"Where do you see yourself in five years' time?"

Thero confidently stood in front of her class, in matric and listed almost all her fantasies.

'Pass matric, go to university and study marketing, get a job, get married and travel the world. I want to wear designer shoes, have designer bags, wear the latest clothes, wear expensive wigs and not even groan in pain when I have to buy those luxurious, perfect smelling perfumes.'

Her teacher had smiled at her after she was done, 'big dreams huh?'

'Leather dreams ma'am.'

Five years later, she only had matric, no university, no marketing degree or diploma just no money for the leather dreams she once had.

She was hustling, sharing a bedroom with her mother while her baby sister popped kids like she was popping smarties and her brother smoking anything under the sun, and smelling like he last bathed when Jesus was still walking on earth.

She had her boyfriend who loved her to the moon and back but she wasn't fulfilled. She needed more, she needed to have her leather dreams, come rain or sunshine...

Even if it means sleeping with the devil...
