Stella blew on the floating image making the angel burst into shards of what looked like glass. The last thing that happened was the other boy, this one jumped down from the brick roof into the darkened alleyway.

"Nice kill my dear," the boy from the rooftop said kneeling down at the angel's remains. The glass was slowly dissolving. Stella ignored the boy's comment and turned to the human boy with a horrified expression. The boy had the same golden-blonde hair as Stella, only his was much shorter. It fell only to to his ears. The boy's eyes were light brown, the same as Stella's right eye. They shared the same bronze colored skin. Stella took a small step forwards making the boy step back in shock and fear.

The bright ball of blue, green, gold and white twinkled with radiant glimmers along its surface. Suspended in the void of pure darkness, pitched against the twinkle of faint silver stars, the it was almost beautiful from this distance. Ages ago, Turivel had visited this world and the scars it left on her never faded. Pains in her chest threatened to destroy her calm composed face. "You don't have to go, I can do this alone," said a male voice, cutting through her thoughts. Turivel blinked, bringing herself back to the present. Her steely eyes turned to look at him, her lips curled in a half smile, "Do you really think I am foolish enough to trust you with something this important?" He crossed his arms. The pair stood suspended in the void of space not far from the planet before them. Against the darkness behind him the man's face had twisted into a disapproving scowl, "I know you call me the Evangelist for a reason. And I know that you will pay me for my trouble," his dark brown hair curled around him in the void, covering half his face and his dark eyes, "And that is enough for me. But most importantly, I know that your head is too clouded by this planet for you to act clearly down there." Turivel sighed, relenting, "Alright, go. Bring her back. But be careful, be subtle. And remember the importance of who you bring to me." "I always do," he said over his shoulder. A blue circle of light appeared around the edges of his shape and he slowly faded from existence. Turivel let her guard down, her shoulders slumped slightly now that she was alone. Wisps of her golden hair fell around her face as she allowed herself a moment to just feel the worry and stress of it all. All of life and death hung in the balance now, and all she could do was pray he made it.

"This is an Angel girl named Maisie Lark. She hasn't ever stepped foot into the 'real world'. Attempting to break the lock is useless and I have the key. I've extended the olive branch. Maisie's your motive. Come find me when you're ready." Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves. Maybe running from the past isn't the right choice and perhaps, maybe even a Demon and Angel could fall in love too. (Entered in the Open Novella Contest 2022 under prompt 79. ~Completed~ 'I'm bold.' 'I'm ever confident.' 'I don't give a fuck about what anyone thinks and have to say about me.' 'I'm who I am.' 'I'm Stella Downer.' That's how it has always been, but what happens when things don't go exactly the way she planned... ~~~ He said nothing more, he had a sly smile on his face as he ran his hands through his hair. No doubt he was gorgeous. No doubt he's got good lips. No doubt he got any girl he wanted. No doubt I'm having crazy thoughts right now. "You're my boyfriend's bestfriend" I blurted. "It doesn't matter, I respect that but he's the only thing standing between 'us'" he replied, his voice still as calm as ever like nothing was weird... Like 'THIS' was normal. "'We' are not possible" I said mustering all the courage I could, trying not to melt under his gaze. "Does it mean you're considering it?" He asked. I wanted to reply but I couldn't, I couldn't just make out words right now. Was I perhaps considering it? What is wrong with me?! I just stood there, staring at him, his eyes piercing into mine like he was trying to read me. There was something about those dark eyes I couldn't quite comprehend. His presence was doing something to me! Everywhere was suddenly so quiet. Where is everyone?! Few seconds later, his face was inches away from mine, I just hope it wasn't what I was thinking. Every foward motion he took, I equally took a step backwards till I felt my back hit against one of the lockers. I could have pulled out. I could have pushed him away. I could have walked away. I could have hit him or slapped him away from me. But I did nothing... My body felt numb. The only thing I could feel were the weird sensation inside me. We were a breathe apart. I could already feel his body heat... •••••• Book #1 of the Downer Sisters Series. CAN BE READ AS A STAND ALONE BOOK!

Preview: Chapter 13 The darkness was suffocating, and Ella was disoriented as she stumbled around with her arms in front of her. She was desperately trying to get a hold of something, something that could guide her in the right direction. But there was nothing, no matter how hard she searched in the dark she would not run into anything except more darkness. Ella felt like she had been stumbling around for hours when she finally tripped over something on the floor. The ground came rushing towards her and suddenly the world around her emerged from the darkness. A well to familiar sent reached her nose as she managed to get back up to her feet. Her eyes darted around the abandon building as she remembered every detail of her nightmare. Ella could feel the blood on her hands before she saw it. It was dripping down along her bare arms and creating droplets of red on the cold stone ground underneath her bare feet. She grasped for air as the metallic scent hit her. What was going on? She could hear the rain hammering against the roof of the building pulling her even deeper into the dream. The screams came next. The heart wreaking sound echoing throughout the walls, vibrating into Ella's core. The screams of pain and sorrow so deep that you didn't know what you should do whit yourself. But an almost instinctive feeling flowed over Ella, and she desperately started to look around, trying to locate where the scream was coming from. It didn't take her long to notice her sister in a pool of blood on the cold stone ground. She was turning in pain desperately trying to keep the screams from coming out. Ella took a deep breath as she almost slipped in the pool of blood around her sister as she ran towards her. She fell down on her knees next to her with her red hands hovering over her sister's belly. They were shaking uncontrollably. "Stella please I beg you"
