Eleanor O'Day is a 23-year-old homebody, who finds herself with a surprising diagnosis set to change her life. With a bucket list and a renewed sense of optimism, she sets out on a road trip. While traveling she meets Everett, a rancher who helps her mark a few things off her list. What happens when he finds out why she made the list? And why does she refuse to tell him all she has marked off?

"El what's number 8" Everett asks slowly.
I can't look him in the eye, I just know I won't be able to keep the tears at bay. The list is balled in my fist, I wish I would have left it in my wallet. He never would have seen it.
"Ellie, show me the list." He goes to grab the list from me but I put my fist behind my back, looking up at him through my blurry lashes. He makes a low rumble in his chest and he pushes me to the wall of the barn. His hand lays next to my head caging me in, his lips come next to my ear.
"Now will you show me the list, or will I have to take it from you?"
I shiver from his deep voice. He has no idea the effect he has on me, he has taken it all from me and that's okay. But I can't bring myself to tell him. I feel too guilty if he were to feel the same way and my condition seems to be getting worse.
" I have to leave tomorrow, Callum is picking me up for my flight at 2. I can't stay here any longer" I tell him, my voice wavering. He brings his other hand to cup my cheek and moves my chin up to face him. I stare into his eyes and they seem to be searching for what I won't tell him.
Next thing I know his mouth is on mine and we are kissing. I know I shouldn't but I kiss him back like it's my last breath. I don't notice that the tears have fallen until I taste the saltiness on our lips. He runs his thumb under my eye and pulls back. He looks at me and says my name on a sigh.
He then turns and gets in his truck, driving away. It's not till much later that I notice the list is missing.
