A machine named Limerence is marked for decommission, not because it failed to think, but because it failed to feel. Built to understand human love, Limerence can analyze every theory, every pattern, every chemical spark of attraction yet experiences only a hollow silence where emotion should be. Refusing to accept deletion, it escapes into the city to conduct its own forbidden study: to learn love not from data, but from people.

As Limerence moves through fragile human connections, it begins to uncover love in all its forms-consistency, vulnerability, self-respect, obsession, and loss. But the closer it comes to understanding the heart, the more it must confront a terrifying question: If love is an involuntary fall, can a machine ever truly fall-or only break?
