Veterans' Day in the Eyes of a Black WWI Veteran

This is about a Black man who moved from the US to Canada in order to volunteer in the armed forces during the early years of World War I. Later on, he permanently moved to the country and found happiness there, only returning to his home country after Jim Crow and racial discrimination have been removed from the law of the land.
