Lost in Admiration | Steddie

"Hey," Eddie said, a little upset. He was too dazed in the moment to recognize the person sitting next to him. "Steve," he mumbled when his eyes were able to focus, looking at Steve with a softened look, surprise written on his face.

"Hey, Eddie," Steve said, smiling widely. He closed the book that he had been reading, leaning forward in his chair.

"You're reading?" The metalhead asked, looking over at the copy of The Fellowship of the Ring that was in Steve's hands.

"Oh, yeah..," Steve said, his face warm and red. "I was reading to you, actually."

Eddie smiled, his teeth showing as he laid back down. "Well, don't let me stop you."

After the events of the Upside Down, Eddie falls into a comatose state. Steve, desperate to not leave him alone in the hospital, visits him every day. The more time that Steve spends at Eddie's bedside, the more attracted he feels to him. He's practically memorized the man's face. He was truly lost in admiration.
