"It's perfectly normal for people to die. Do you know what's decidedly not normal? People dying left, right and center. By suicide. Sounds bad? Well then, get ready for worse. Because, these 'people' are children. The scientists say it's because of some psychological rubbish. A mental disorder of sorts. To them, these children are victims. The unfortunate ones. But to us, they are the luckiest.
In my world, it's better to lose. And because they lost the battle and passed on, they didn't have to see what we did. They didn't have to be what we are. They didn't have suffer as we do. We ... are the ones who were left behind.
And I'll bet the one who said 'Pity the living, not the dead' never dreamt his words would turn true like this."
***
When a mysterious disease begins killing off children and teenagers all over the world by the thousands, Ellys Davidson is one of the survivors with nothing except the clothes on her back, her own eleven-year-old self and mysterious powers she understands nothing about. All she knows is that they are her punishment for surviving. She is cursed with power.

𝟏𝟖+| I was said to be 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝, 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞... 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. I had heard it so much in my life that it had manifested into a truth that remained rock solid in my brain. It consumed every surface of my body and mind like a deadly cancer It had become a promise to myself. A reminder. A standard. It was a rule applied to every person in my life, except him... He was the same as I was; no matter how different our outside identities were. We were cut from the same cloth on the inside. There was no denying that he and I were both broken souls left in a broken world. Both craving an eternal slumber before we met, but his darkness played so well with mine that suddenly it began feeling more like light, warmth, goodness... a happy ending. But when one of her parties get out of hand and the cops are called, she's in for a rude awakening as she comes face to face with the new guy in town: Officer Herrera. He's wasn't like the usual officers she dealt with, and she finds that out quite quickly as she gets dragged away to jail for the night. They both wish to never see each other again, but there was something stronger than their dislike for each other keeping them together. The stronger their dislike grows, the more attached they become, until the lines become so blurred that they can't tell the difference between hatred and love anymore. They could say they hated each other, but if anything, a small part of them knew it would turn into love. If that love would last once everything was revealed... It was only a matter of time before they found out. ----

The Darkness in the Light by djscloud
25 parts Complete
For over a hundred years, humanity has lived in fear of the monsters that roam the streets, lurking in the drains below. Women and their daughters hide, protected in their homes, while men take their sons through the world, teaching them the responsibilities of having a family to feed and dangers to avoid. No one leaves the home unless it's essential, and most of the world prefers it that way. Until one girl spends her days perched on her window seat, looking down at the world below and dreaming of a different life. Her eyes are always drawn to the dark, ominous drains in the street, the ones that often blink open to swallow and person whole. One day, that person is her little brother, snatched right in front of her from their arms of their father and gone forever. When a person is snatched, they never return, and life goes on without them. But she can't accept that. Breaking all the rules, all the things she's ever known, she braves the world outside her little townhouse and goes on a mission into the darkness to find her brother. Only, it's soon her that becomes the one lost to the drains. To survive she must rediscover her world, and in the process, rediscover herself. She will be reunited with old friends, gain new ones, find out deeper secrets about her past than she ever could have imagined, and learn that the world is even more corrupt than she always thought. *** This story contains sexist ideology, mention of cheating, some gruesome scenes, and a whole lot of monsters and darkness. It isn't overly mature... there isn't much explicit language or sexual scenes, but there is a bit of violence, so just keep that in mind... and despite all that negativity, ENJOY!

**WARNING** ~contains explicit content that may not be acceptable to all viewers. discretion advised~ "The question, 'why shouldn't I?' played on a loop in my head. I was fed up with biting my tongue and walking the so-called straight and narrow. It had gotten me nothing but misfortune. People walked all over me because I showed them that it was possible. They say to be kind. To love. To live your life purely. Not to expect anything in return. Why then, did it seem like all anyone wanted was to take from me? Take and take and take until there was nothing left, and even then, try to take more. I had been told, over and over, that if I lived by the principles I had been taught, it would all pay off. I don't know if I believe in it anymore. Any of it." *** Have you ever experienced moments of lost time? An eerie sense of Deja-vu? Most people have, it can be fairly common. Hours, sometimes even days, lost to her. She begins to wonder... is this normal? The answer to that question may be one she doesn't truly want to find. There's a game being played, one Fawn never knew she signed up for; And her opponent isn't one to play nice. Can Fawn win this game, fair and square? Or will she have to make a Foul Play? *** Ms.Witch *** Created (December) 2024 & Completed () 2025

***COMPLETED***So get this... We've been living in a dystopian nightmare for 10 years now. Grandpa Alfred says it's the older generation's fault--well duh! To make matters worse, Bell, my twin sister, contracted "The Wasting." No doubt she caught it by helping the kids in the Forbidden Zones. That's where all the mutant freaks live. Not just your usual freaks but kids with missing limbs, half a face, twisted spines... My witch of a mother thinks it's from the nuke plants leaking after the purple lights lit up the skies. The preggo's babies turned into monsters. Due to Bell's bleeding heart she only has a month to live. Grandpa says he knows this invisible guy with a cure, (yeah right... what you've been sniffing Grandpa?) He's disappeared and so close to "Recycling" age. Now it's up to me and only me, Izzy Quest, a freaked out teen from Brooklyn, to save my dying twin sister. You may have guessed by now, I'm not the save-the-day-sort--Bell is. She's the sweet, honest, dependable, pretty twin. Don't believe me? Ask my lunatic of a mother. "You look like Bell; try acting like her." If Bell had to save me, she'd be all organized with sticky notes and a compass. Me? What do I have but OCD, a short fuse and a cynical attitude. Oh, but I can run--fast. I can outrun any boy in my school. Well, when there were schools. As of today, all schools are closed indefinitely. Thanks evil, New Regime! (Bell wants me to tell you our story is in 3rd person and not first person--whatever that means...) Find out what the Quest sisters are up to next! Read: "Escape From Fat Camp"
