It was early fall of September, 1971. 
All the way in the small, quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana lived Cynthia Barrett-O'Malley; Whom was struggling to raise her five young kids with her husband. 
Shortly after in 1972, Cynthia finds herself being approached by Hawkins National Laboratory. 
In regards of a financial opportunity to better the life of her children, Cynthia makes a deal. 

Circa, December 23rd, 1972. 
Howie and Cynthia O'Malley quietly adopt a five year old child. No questions asked. 
Suspiciously moving her family into a bigger, stable home right next to Joyce Byers right before.


Fast Forward, the night of November 6th, 1983. 
The youngest son of Joyce Byers, Howie and Cynthia's two youngest daughters have gone missing after failing to return home on a school night. 
No one has any idea where the children could be. 
Hardly anyone is listening to their mother's desperate pleas for someone to listen.
And to make it worse.
Two of the O'Malley's oldest daughters are the town babysitters;
