Holly Mason and her Mum, Rachel Mason, move to Rochdale so Rachel can take over the infamous Waterloo Road.

Holly is extremely intelligent, but with a smart mouth, she has always been reminded of how important a good education is and is sick of her Mum controlling her life, Rachel is desperate for Holly not to make the same mistakes she did growing up. Holly would do anything to protect her Mum and keep her secrets. But what happens to Holly and Rachel when that secret is revealed in front of the whole school and Holly's fight or flight is triggured? Will they both make it to the end of the school year?
