Dipper wasn't always a witch. Though he was born one he had never explored that part of himself until his parents divorce. He was always abused by his father for not being the perfect son.
But when he explores his innermost thoughts and fears he realizes he will never be what they want him to be. He is now a coven leader of the Middle path, called The Distant.
His coven follows him to Gravity Falls where they meet a unlikely friend.
