You, your sister, your mother, and your father all live in Haddonfield, Illinois. It's almost Halloween, when your town goes absolutely crazy. Your sister is extremely annoying; she sings the same same song every year while wearing a silly pumpkin mask. You already know the song by heart. In addition to reminding you that you live in the same neighborhood as a fictitious serial killer who stalks on Halloween, your sister is also weird and keeps watching the same horror movies. You live your usual life and, of course, don't think anything of it since she's only a foolish 10-year old.

He released his grip as that last thought sunk in, but stood where he was. This new realization was almost terrifying to him. All those confusing feelings, the pit in his stomach when he watched her cry and the way he couldn't seem to stay away from her, that strange desire he had. It all started to make sense. He cared.
