Hawkins is plagued by Satanic Panic as children start behaving erratically, are found brutally mutilated, or just disappear altogether. What people don't realize that it isn't the music or extracurricular clubs that are the core of this chaos, but an entity so powerful lurking just underneath of the small town. Steve Harrington, a recent graduate, and Eddie Munson, hoping this will be his last senior year, both want out of the suburbia they had been confined to all of their lives.
Brought together by a missing boy they had both kept under their wing, Eddie's rebellious attitude opposes Steve's good guy nature at first, but find that their polarity more of a magnetism much like the two worlds, the upside down and right side up, that begin to bleed and blend together.
