Julie Page wasn't dumb. At least, not Before. In the Before, Julie was the one who kept the books for her family business, the one with good grades, the one with smart, overachieving friends. She was not the girl who fell prey to a multi-level marketing scheme, that was for sure. At least, not Before. But now, in the summer following high school graduation, Julie was living in the After. After her mother died. After she got dumped by Bryce the Great. After she locked eyes with Sheridan Highgate, the popular girl with a matching workout set and six jobs and nothing but joy in her empty, bright eyes. The girl swimming in the cotton candy pool of her ever-present water bottle. The girl Julie would never, ever be caught dead with. At least, not Before. When Sheridan takes Julie under her wing in the weirdest, saddest summer of her life, the world around her opens in a new way. A way that leads to parties filled with skinny girls with colorful "health" drinks, skeevy sales tactics, and a surprising darkness that forces Julie to face the deepest, most untouched parts of herself. In this darkly comedic young adult novel, Julie finds herself under the spell of the beautiful people -- the Diamond Girls -- and enchanted by the shattering of broken glass that makes up their mosaic. As she falls deeper into the chaotic and enigmatic world of "Diamondesq," a brand of questionable health drinks and their various accoutrements, Julie learns that no one is who they seem to be -- not Sheridan, not Bryce the Great, not her mother. Not even herself. [60K Words / Completed ]

"He seemed like a puzzle to me, and I really liked solving puzzles. But somehow, I don't think that I would ever be able to solve this one." Amelia Heart, with her large smile and her infectious laugh, is what most people would think has the perfect life. They would watch as she went back to her beach house, as she went out of her way to stop and chat to her neighbours, as she would get the perfect grades. She was everything you wanted to be, and yet nobody had gotten close enough to her to understand her life in this small town at all. When her plans of leaving suddenly change, and she is forced to start attending the local school, her life takes a route that she hadn't accounted for. A new group of friends, a chance at a normal teenage life, even a potential love interest - things that Amelia had never even thought about happening after everything she'd been through. But happiness is only temporary in her life, and she knew that. It wasn't surprising to her when her past began to catch up with her present, it was simply a good thing that it had taken as long as it had. Things start happening in Amelia's life that simply don't make sense, even to her. They do say you should always keep an eye over your shoulder, especially when you know you're being hunted, but for Amelia, even an eye in every direction wouldn't be enough. Time begins counting down, fast. Did she want to involve her friends? Could the new people in her life be trusted? She wouldn't have long to make a decision. Not before her world comes blazing down, the final battle on the horizon. Tick, tock, Amelia. You don't want to be late to the party when you're the guest of honour. COMPLETED 06/11/20
