Adrian is conflicted.

She wants to go back to her home city of Charlotte to rescue her best friends, but her family wants to keep her as far away from the action as possible. It's much too dangerous there for a 13-year-old girl. But her fiery personality may prove difficult for her family to contain. And in case that wasn't enough, she notices that she has abilities that a normal person shouldn't have...

Not necessarily a new problem. Him and his sister have been running away from the Alpha Freedom Movement for their entire lives. But when he gets drafted into the war against them, there's nowhere to run anymore. They need to stand and face the terrorist group that tore their family to shreds and gave them lifelong scars. And that might just mean endangering the lives of everyone around them, which is the last thing they want.
When the two of them meet, they feel an instant need to protect each other. But they can't protect themselves and their friends from everything.
