In 1996, Y/N was recruited from the US Army Rangers into the R.P.D.'s Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) Here he was partnered with fellow newcomer Jill Valentine. They formed a strong partnership and grew close to each other over the years. The year is now 1998. S.T.A.R.S. has been disbanded and the investigation into the Umbrella Corporation has been halted in its tracks. After the massacre at the Spencer Mansion, Jill and Y/N were suspended and forced to remain in their homes. They continued their investigation despite their suspension.
