Tw: 5 stages of grief but really really intense (i think) 
i'm not sure what else i don't really have this planned out i'm just kinda going with it 

a lot of trauma and mental breakdowns

gore and descriptions of pain and like immense grieving (bc obviously... after season 4 like what do u expect)

in this story everyone is fine, except for phycological trauma obviously, except for Eddie. Max lives, the town doesn't shatter and crack, it's all fine and dandy. 

Eddie is dead, everyone is heartbroken and no one knows how to really cope with it.

Especially Steve. 

But what if Eddie isn't... actually dead.

Steve POV Eddie and Steve have known each other since middle school. It wasn't until the recent touch with the Upsidedown had they really gotten close again. The kids adored him, all of their friends loved him. He fit right in, and Steve had fallen absolutely head over heals for him. It's been exactly 6 months since Eddie was taken by the monsters in the Upsidedown. 6 months since Steve's felt anything, or wanted to feel anything. 6 months since he's been happy to see someone, or hear someone else's voice. How has it only been 6 months? Steve's drinking has gotten out of hand, so has the undying need to numb it all away. One of the best friends he's had since Robin, gone in a matter of moments. Eddie was easy to talk to, his personality was infectious. He could light up a whole damn room with just a smile. Nothing's been the same since he's been gone. It feels like his whole world is collapsing in on him with every breath he takes.

Steve is convinced something is coming after them, and Eddie is still dealing with the aftermath of being accused to be a murderer. Their friendship takes a new turn after Steve comes up with an idea to get them both out of their current state, take the other one to do their favorite things. What could go wrong? This is a fanfic from the show stranger things, there will be season four spoilers. Since the show hasn't ended, and I just finished Vol two, this will not be canon accurate. I started writing before Vol two came out and I'm staying with my plot rather than follow the rest of the show. This is a happy ending fic so don't worry. Steve(21) Hasn't had a chance to leave this awful place. He has stayed around for the kids, wanting nothing more to be there for each one's graduation. Confused. Lonely. Depression has really started to hit in the last couple of years after all of the tragic losses to the upsidedown. Nearly losing everything and everyone he's cared for and loved. Most everyone has gotten their chance to escape, Nancy and Jonathan moved to California after graduation. Robin's off at college. Until he realizes maybe he's not so alone here, sparking a true friendship with the most unlikely person, Eddie Munson. Eddie(22) hasn't been able to get out of this town either after swearing he would get the hell out of here many years ago. The kids are all graduating this year, which will most likely end up giving the two now men, no reason to stick around anymore. But what will happen to the two friends when Steve realizes the feelings he's thought for so long to just be a platonic friendship have always been a little more? I do not own rights to the ST characters or themes but I do own rights to my own storyline. I will be using pictures from artists that I find as the art for each chapter.
