Penelope is a simple maid from the countryside. Her parents passed away leaving her to the care of her aunt and uncle whom she has grown attached too. She never believed in fairy tales or happy endings. She never believed in Prince Charming or a knight in shining white armor. Penelope holds herself to her practical beliefs and would prefer to not ever marry.
When invitations are sent out among the kingdom requesting every eligible maiden to attend the ball, Penelope is begrudging to go. However, she decides to give the prince she believes to be a pompous and spoiled brat a piece of her mind.
Then she meets Graham and she begins to question some of her beliefs and the desire to never marry might not be what she wanted after all.

In the glittering kingdom of Aravelle, love is a dangerous game. Princess Seraphina has spent her life trapped behind palace walls, her every move dictated by duty and politics. When she meets Rowan, a loyal royal guard sworn to protect her, their connection is instant, powerful - and utterly forbidden. A princess cannot love a soldier, especially when a cruel prince seeks her hand to secure the crown. As their secret romance blossoms beneath the ancient willow tree, whispers of betrayal spread through the court. When their love is discovered, Rowan is branded a traitor and sentenced to death. Desperate to save him, Seraphina strikes a devastating bargain: she will marry Prince Dorian to protect the throne... and Rowan will be spared, but exiled forever. On the day of her wedding, as Rowan is dragged to the borders and Seraphina is bound to a loveless union, the lovers share one last, heartbreaking glance - a silent promise of "always." Years pass. Seraphina becomes queen, ruling beside a husband who hungers for power and blood. Rowan, hardened by exile, fights to survive while clinging to memories of the woman he loves. When rebels rise and the king plots to kill Seraphina, Rowan returns to the palace, risking everything to save her. But fate is cruel. As swords clash and kingdoms burn, Seraphina must face the ultimate choice: her crown, her people, and the love of her life.
