One day while moving South she meets the herd: Manny, Sid, and Diego. Soon after learning they are taking a human baby--Roshan--back to his family, she joins the trio to help them get him back. Jade decided that once the baby was back home, she would go back to being the lone saber she once was. However, the longer she hangs around the three mammals, the more she finds herself becoming attached to them and seeing them like they were her own family.
