Steve Harrington and Olivia Henderson have been the best of friends since they could remember. It was a coincidence, really. They got put in the same eighth grade class when her family moved to Hawkins.
As time went on, they were practically joined at the hip!.. until they turned 14, and Olivia started babysitting her little brother, Dustin, and his best friends, Mike Wheeler, Will Byers and Lucas Sinclair.
A crush on Steve developed for Olivia when they entered the 9th Grade a year later at Hawkins High School.
Olivia changed a little when high school started. Her clothing got a little darker; black shirts and black Chuck Taylor's. She still wore her denim; she couldn't shy away from it, but she added more than just blue denim jeans. Skirts and shorts were added to her wardrobe.
Steve became popular in High School and was dubbed the King of Hawkins High after the previous King graduated. Steve felt he had to live up to the expectations of being King, but that didn't really stop Olivia from hanging out with him when he wasn't around Tommy H. and Carol.
Things started to change when he became attracted to Nancy Wheeler, Mike's older sister. He started ditched Olivia more for Nancy, and she understood, but didn't like it.
The night Will Byers went missing, it put a few things into perspective for Olivia, like her protectiveness for Dustin grew, as well as her friendship with Will's older brother, Jonathan.
Dustin, of course, dragged his sister into the craziness of Eleven, a mysterious girl with superpowers that showed up out of nowhere.
Will Olivia eventually tell Steve about her feelings for him during their Upside Down adventures, or will she continue to keep it a secret?

Lucy Harrington wasn't much like her brother; she was dorky and she was nerdy and she was unpopular and she continuously tripped up on her own feet. She only really had two friends; Josette Holland and Will Byers. She got high grades in all her classes, her favorites being English and Science. She spent a lot of her free time writing the Essays that her brother payed her to work on, the rest spent at the arcade with Josette or drawing with Will. She didn't mind though, Steve said that it helped him out, plus she got money for it that she could spend at the arcade and on candy. She did, however, miss spending time with her older brother. They spent a majority of their time together. That was at least until Steve fell in with Tommy Hagan and Carol Perkins. Now all they did together was sleep in the same house, and that was only on occasion. Steve refused to be seen with the clumsy middle schooler that was Lucy Harrington in public for longer that he forcibly had to. Even when Steve was home and not out with his friends, he acted like Lucy wasn't there. I wasn't supposed to be in the story. Not the kind with monsters, gates, or government labs. "This little fairy freak," he said, gesturing toward me like I was something stuck to his shoe. "Always floating around in her weird outfits, acting all sweet and innocent-like she doesn't watch people making out from bathroom cracks like a total psycho." I froze. The air left my lungs. "Steve," Nancy whispered sharply beside him, "it was the girl's bathroom." But he wasn't listening. "She's always staring," he continued. "Like we're all in some sad little movie she made up in her head. Always acting like she's not dying for attention." I was just the girl with too-soft sweaters and panic attacks. The one who watched people fall in love from the sidelines. The one who crushed silently on Steve Harrington while he kissed other girls in haunted high school bathrooms. Moving into the small town of Hawkins during her sophomore year of high school wasn't a treat, but she didn't let it ruin her spirits too much. In fact, she even made some new friends along the way. Granted, most of them were in middle school and were major nerds, but that didn't bother her. She even joined in on some of their DnD campaigns whenever they invited her. It was fun, that was until one of the kids, Will, went missing. Along the way to finding him, (Y/N) befriends some people from her own school, including the goody-two-shoes Nancy Wheeler, and her boyfriend, Steve "The Hair" Harrington. She never really understood why everyone was obsessed with Steve. Or was everyone obsessed with his hair? She never knew. He could be a real asshole sometimes, too. But for whatever reason, she finds herself becoming closer with him the more they hang out. Emilie Henderson was damaged. Everyone knew what happened to her. Or at least, they knew enough. When she was thirteen she went camping with her father and they both went missing for nearly two weeks until Emilie was found barely alive with deep wounds from an unknown origin and her father was found with his eyes caved in and his bones cracked. She was in a coma for thirteen weeks when she came back she had no memory of what happened. Doctors said the trauma was so great that the young girl blocked it out. But ever since then, she kept having nightmares of a place. Like this world but cold and dark. She lived with the Byers as she became friends with Jonathan and was like a daughter to Joyce until her brother and mother were able to move to Hawkins with her due to complications. She's now known at the traumatized girl of Hawkins High with the freak brother, yet somehow she is Steve "The Hair" Harrington's best friend albeit their relationship has gotten rocky. She deals with normal things along with her nightmares and trauma-school, bullies, insecurities, and being in love with her best friend.
