The cover looked very horror-like, a picture of a ghost in front of an old building. The title was simply "Asylum", and Poe was very intrigued. He enjoyed writing about the darker insanity in people, so he was eager to see what work this author concocted.
"Ranpo-kun I found---Ranpo-Kun!" exclaimed Poe when he saw Ranpo holding his beloved Karl in the air with one hand. In Ranpo's other hand, stretched as far away from the raccoon as possible, was a package of crackers.
This is set in an Asylum, but not when it was in operation. I know some people do not appreciate the talking of treatments and such, which is understandable. I tried to steer clear of the treatments, but in order to tell a backstory of an Asylum, I brought up the topic of the inhumane treatments that went on back then. Nothing too in-depth, but it is still mentioned.

Poe and Ranpo attend the same College. They've known each other for several years and grow closer because of the fact they are neighbors. they become almost inseperable and they appear to have something more than friendship. After Ranpo realizes the fact, he decides to confess, the only problem, poe does not get it for the reason that he doesn't think he deserves it. The sky wept for the lack of light, strangled by dark clouds hovering over New York City. It was a rare moment where the streets weren't filled with people, most taking refuge from the wailing sky. A young man and a raccoon take the opportunity to amble on home, basking in the solace the rain has brought. A scream, child-like and terrified, tears through the solitude. The man snaps his head up, a single violet eye peeking through dark bangs, confused and slightly annoyed. The raccoon chitters loudly and leaps off of the man's shoulder. "Karl?! What-" The man reaches forward in an attempt to grab the raccoon before it could run off, missing by a hair. He curses under his breath and begins to run after the animal. The rain falls harder, nearly blinding the man. He nearly slides off of his feet as he turns a corner, almost catching Karl. Something, no, someone, slams into him. He falls back with a huff, landing hard on the flooded street. Both eyes are revealed as he looks down, frowning. His expression freezes at the sight of sunset-colored eyes, terrified and lost. Tiny hands, pale and bruised, covered in scars, reach up to grab his shirt. "Tasukete!" Nothing is the same since. - I've had this thought for a while, because I think Edgar deserves some love (I love both the author and this character SO much) and I also think Edgar and Atsushi would get along so well. I haven't read or watched much of BSD, but I am reading as I go, so if things are inconsistent... I'm blaming it on the canon divergence. :P Anyways, I hope you all enjoy! The man who discovered it decided to make the metallic liquid into arrows. He then buried them underneath his homeland and in the year 2000, it was eventually discovered and monstrous beings called "Klaxosaurs" begin appearing. The arrows were a sign of hope as when exposed to the air, it chose which people to grant powers from. A visual manifestation of life energy to the user. Ordinary people cannot see it, but people who were granted with these powers can see it. It could not be harm by ordinary things, only other special people can hurt it. This was known as a Stranxx, and people who were granted these powers used it to kill the infestation of Klaxosaur. Some used it for good, some used it for bad but they didn't know that there would be a school just to train your Stranxx and fight Klaxosaurs. Thus we focus on our main protagonist, Hiro. He is Stranxxless but he has a dream, and that dream is to be known as the #1 Hero that destroys Klaxosaurs in one swoop. So he thinks that the program will help him fight the Klaxosaurs. Now this story tells two perspectives on one situation, so it can be read inside out, flapways, flipways, sideways, front to back, or back to front (not that we'd recommend it). Unlike Poe, no one (even in kindergarten) has ever liked her, except her best friend Greg. But Rose doesn't care, well... nah. We're not gonna tell you, that would ruin the story. POE XIAO cannot see. We think you can tell where this is going. He's charming, ever so flirty, and oh-so sarcastic. He's more put together than a blind guy should be. Girls drop like flies around him, but none of that really matters. On the inside- well, if we told you that would ruin it, right? Read as these two collide at an internship and a number of other painfully awkward situations. You shall laugh and cry and maybe even both, which might cause you to snort milk out of your nose, so we'd be careful. It's a wild ride of what it's like to live silenced and in the dark. This is a high school au (no powers) "What was that? You should really speak up ya know" Ranpo says a bit annoyed, looking in his bag and pulling out a hard candy to throw in his mouth. "Uh- yes sorry- I said how about a mystery novel" Poe repeats louder, flustered and a tad embarrassed. "A mystery novel huh? That's a great idea!" Ranpo says happily, clapping his hands. "Now tell me, what exactly do you have in mind?" Ranpo asks, adjusting his glasses as he looks at his screen. Ranpo is the top of his class and Poe looks up to him but also dislikes him because he views it as some sort of rivalry. Meanwhile Ranpo hardly realizes that Poe exists. In writers class, Dazai gets to selects pairs to work on making a book together.
