The book was there.
When Garrett sat up on his bed in the barracks, and opened up his bag it was there. The same spine, the same four locks, and his father's name slapped under the title just like in the library. He made sure to keep it hidden, since it looked like an enemy relic. It felt like one too, a window into his father's past. It made him tear up a bit, and he looked up at the picture on his desk next to the bed. The last time he saw his folks, his dad accused him of treason. If he could bend time, he'd take back all the things he said the day he left.
"Private Reeds, to your station immediatly! Lieutenant Harrison has a job for you."
"Yes sir, General, sir!" Garrett stood and saluted the S.O. forming a diamond with his fingers. Then, he stepped out of the tent and into the light, seeing the man by the riverbank. After cracking his neck, Garrett calmly walked over to Neil, as he was more commonly known. "Sir, how may I be of assisstance?"
Neil looked down into the now empty river, adorned with a massive symbol charred into the ground. "Can you tell me what this means? I've never seen it before." Garrett then looked down on it too. It comprised of two open triagnles, overlapping with the open sides opposite to each other. Above them, a crude drawing of a flame.
"That... that's the mark of the Omegaplain. Either some history buff is playing a silly prank or we're in for a lot more than a mere volcanic army."
"But they're millions strong... what could possibly be worse?"
"Billions of remnants. All armed with magic more powerful than anything we have... But that's all legend, right?"
