The curious, unexplainable fire in Starcourt Mall makes the news, and catches the attention of a branch of the Campbell family.
James Campbell lost his wife years ago to a monster he couldn't battle, cancer, and he threw himself and his children into the hunter's lifestyle to dull the pain. Now, nine years later, a recovering functional alcoholic (and workaholic), realizes what a disservice he did to his son and daughter and sees in Hawkins an opportunity to start a new life, after dealing with whatever awaits them there.

Alessia Campbell is a firecracker who has lived on the road since she was ten, taking care of her little brother and her wasted father. At nineteen she's an initiated hunter, a card hustler, and practically a mother to her sibling. Clinic to the core, she feels too broken for the normal life, but will put on a show if it means Erik Campbell never has to go on his first hunt. It's not too late for him to get out.

Eddie Munson is starting his senior year...again. After having failed two times, he's really hoping "three time's the charm" applies to his situation. When a gorgeous girl that he could only describe as "metal Barbie" serves Jason his ass in front of everyone and their mothers, he feels already half in love. He just HAS to get to know her. This is his year, he's sure of it! 86, baby!
