(I've been working on the background of this for a while and just decided i had to post it bc i got too excited lmao - will most likey not have regular updates)

Every year at midnight on new years, each person who is 15 years old at that time is given the option to join Level Ninety-Nine. Level 99 is a game made up of 99 challenges, or levels, that get harder as the game goes on. If the player completes every level the secret to happiness in their life is revealed to them. The answer is different for everybody; it could be a certain accomplishment, a place, a person, a career path, etc. Not many people complete the challenge. The last task is said to be the worst of all...

Carmen and Devin have been best friends since they met in 6th grade. Carmen had just moved to town after her father and older brother were killed in a car crash that year. It was just her and her mother. She found comfort in her friendship with Devin. Devin loved Carmen with all his heart. He was willing to do anything for her. They were the closest of friends.

Level 99 turns out to be a more difficult experience than Carmen, Devin, or any of their friends had anticipated. Some drop out, some keep going in hopes that they'll find the secret to happiness in their life. But as the tasks become harder and harder to accomplish, can Carmen and Devin's friendship last?

While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote.
