Unexpected Occurrence

Jamie awoke to a sudden boom that had occured outside. Upon waking up, taking a moment to observe her surroundings, she realized that she had woken up in a room she had never seen before. It was dark and cold with a few drawers and a wide window that showed a grey and unappealing sky. Only very few buildings were still upright. Confused and scared, Jamie believed that she was still dreaming. What had happened here? And why did Jamie wake up in this odd place?
This is an original story by me. The basic plot came to me in a dream I had a year ago that I kept in my dream journal.
Thank you so much for reading. It's been a dream of mine to write a story that people would like.

this story is about a scientist in Antarctica slowly losing his sanity I can feel the corners of my lips tug upwards and before I know it, I'm cackling. My laughter rings through the empty room, bouncing off the walls as I double over in hysterics. Despite the dire situation, I can't seem to stop. With each passing second, my giggles become more uncontrollable, more manic. As I catch my breath, I try to reassure myself. "Everything will be fine," I tell myself, punctuating my sentence with another bout of laughter. "Because, because!" I repeat, and my voice breaks into another round of giggles. In the darkness of her dreams, she saw herself standing at a window looking down below, only to see a misting, swirling fog. She could not see the ground and did not know how far down it was. She had no idea where she was. Soon after, she was led down a dark hallway to a room with a large altar. She felt herself being lifted up and then placed back down on the hard stone surface. Now all she could see was a large man, holding a knife in his hands, with the sharp edge pointed directly over her heart...Then a different man with deep blue eyes was looking down at her, and his hand was caressing her face, telling her everything was going to be ok. A loud bang on the door made her startle and rise up. There, coming through the door, were several large angry men, dressed strangely in what looked like animal furs and carrying ominous looking weapons. Some had clubs with sharp objects attached to the ends and others had sharp axes and swords. She could hear her own screams escaping from her lips, and she opened her eyes to notice she was lying in her bed in the safety of her room in the convent where she lived.
