Jamie awoke to a sudden boom that had occured outside. Upon waking up, taking a moment to observe her surroundings, she realized that she had woken up in a room she had never seen before. It was dark and cold with a few drawers and a wide window that showed a grey and unappealing sky. Only very few buildings were still upright. Confused and scared, Jamie believed that she was still dreaming. What had happened here? And why did Jamie wake up in this odd place?

This is an original story by me. The basic plot came to me in a dream I had a year ago that I kept in my dream journal.

She could hear her own screams escaping from her lips, and she opened her eyes to notice she was lying in her bed in the safety of her room in the convent where she lived. She was still trembling and had to tell herself it was just a dream. She was safe and no one would ever be able to hurt her.
