"I hear you've made a decision," Jared said, walking slowly towards Katherine, who stood her ground. "Which decision are you referring to?" Katherine asked firmly, her voice stern. "Don't play coy, you know exactly what I'm talking about," Jared said, his voice equally stern, as he stopped in front of her. "Fine, let me clarify: yes, I've made my decision, and it's no, I don't want to marry you," Katherine said, walking around him, her confidence amusing Jared. "What's wrong with marrying me? Am I not manly enough? Or are you in love with someone else?" Jared asked, smirking devilishly. Katherine's expression turned angry as she pointed her finger at him. "Hey, mind your words. "It does affect me," they were both interrupted by Jared's mother, Margaret. ****** When Katherine Shelly, a free-spirited, ambitious, final year student, meets Jared Wilson, a successful and stoic businessman, their initial encounter is like oil and water. Wren and Kenna hated each other in high school. Now mature-ish adults, they still hate each other. The problem? They're engaged. A year away from marriage, according to two of the most powerful people in the world: their parents. ***** Wren Castile and Kenna Gold are engaged...because their parents say so (and no, they're not kidding). Wren has one year to marry her former nemesis, or else. The fact that Kenna emulated her infamously anti-gay father throughout high school seems to be irrelevant--even to Kenna herself. Suddenly Wren and the girl she never wanted to see again are on the same (bickering) side as they face mandatory dates, disastrous family get-togethers, and their unhappy past. Wren is filled with mistrust, but to protect her heart, she might just have to sit back and let it lead the way.
