They say that love is the most powerfull and irrational force of mother nature, it doesnt know borders when it comes to gender, age, species, etc. But they also say there are five stages of grief: Anger, denial, depression, bargining and acceptance.
These are things that Optimus has to go through, not so long ago he lost a human woman that meant a lot to him and ever since his spark hasn't been able to mourn nor grief properly.
After a sleepover at the autobot base, Ralph and Miko sneak into his room to find a old cellphone with a dusty note that says "play the video when you feel ready, love - Kotta"
Who's Kotta? they wonder, they obviesly get caught by Optimus, this becomes the key to a side of Optimus they barely knew and also an opportunity to say goodbye to his first human love.
