Clay and his friends have grown up under a mountain in the Sky Kingdom, secretly raised by the Talons of Peace to fulfill a mysterious prophecy. The six young dragons are destined to end the war that's been raging between the tribes of Pyrrhia - but how they'll do this, none of them knows.

But not every dragonet wants a destiny. When two of their own is threatened, Clay and his friends decide to escape. Maybe they can break free and end the war at the same time - or maybe they'll risk everything. [Tui T. Sutherland]

When Hare realizes that there's no convincing her friends to keep trying, she turns to another group of dragonets to ask them for help. Flame hates the prophecy. He hates his stupid fate and the stupid NightWing that threw him into this mess. When he finds out the prophecy was fake all along, he's more than happy to give up. He wants nothing more than to go home and see his mother, especially after all that's happened. But Hare manages to be convincing enough, and the last thing he wants is to have to live in fear of losing his mother to the war. Both groups of dragonets have lived their entire lives in a lie, but one will end the war and make Pyrrhia the continent it was before. When it comes to the dragons, they can be allies, friends, or threats to be dealt with. As Clue gets himself wrapped up in the prophecy while trying to find a way for himself and the others to get off the planet, they learn that there's more to this new world that meets the eye, and that they have to be careful if they want a chance to escape.
