Signifying a new day, the glory of dawn breaks upon the horizon. Awestruck, Maura Caldwell, and Savannah Peyton witness the brilliance of the sunrise. Both girls are on the cusp of their own dawn. 
     The eleven-year-old companions are at a changing point in their lives. Only the summer months stand between the end of grade school and the beginning of middle school. They have grown up as year-round residents of Long Beach Island in New Jersey. The prospect of continuing their education on the mainland daunts them. 
     Sun-filled beach days linger as Savannah and Maura play with long-time island companions and seasonal Philadelphia friends. It is a carefree existence spread down at the shore. The girls make the most of the last summer of their childhood.  
     Semi-autobiographical, "Dawn" memorializes the author's childhood on Long Beach Island. It draws upon memories of long-ago friendship and carefree summer months spent along the New Jersey coast.All Rights Reserved

Do we truly know those we consider as our family? This is the last year before the beginning of the rest of Cara and Mia lives! Mia Carter still has one more year to spend on Angel Island before leaving, with her best friend, for Montreal to pursue their dream careers. The only problem is that she has to hold on without murdering her nemesis: Austin Coopler. At least, that's what she thought before Cara suddenly vanishes on the evening of the first day of school. No news, no leads, and even stranger, neither the police nor her family seem to care. But Mia is convinced that this disappearance is not a simple runaway case. Caught up in an investigation that goes beyond a mere disappearance, she has no choice but to cooperate with her archenemy and a group of friends who have known each other since childhood. TW - sensitive topics This story contains a lot of references to addiction (alcohol and drugs), and as the chapters progress, they will become more serious. Furthermore, the main character (Mia) suffers from diagnosed chronic anxiety, which I have portrayed to the best of my own experience. Normally, this wouldn't be Chelsea Arnold's problem-she does her best to pay attention in class and attends gym like a good, normal student. She's frequently forced to wake him in English class and ends up earning the unofficial title of Nolan's Wake-up Alarm-a title that nobody in the entire school covets.
