Dropped on the doorstep of a castle seventeen years ago, Chantal was taken into the care of a royal family. She was given everything a young woman could ever want, but always felt out of place. She was prone to strange fits and led a mischievous life that caused the royal family shame.
 One day she meets a mysterious troll named Propcoal who promises to take her away from her Childhood home and lead her into an ancient part of the world. Chantal finds herself immersed in a world full of monsters, trolls, and evil beings. She is thrust into the role of an unwilling heroine. Will she be able to help save the Hinterlands while at the same time discovering her own past?
