Based in 1919, 25 year old Danielle Virtue has just moved to Birmingham. A wartime nurse, Danielle has just returned to England from France in the aftermath of World War One. Hoping for a fresh start in a new city, Danielle struggles to make ends meet and provide money for her mother and younger siblings. That is until Thomas Shelby, a mysterious and ambitious man, makes Danielle an offer - one that will take care of all her problems.
