"Meet me there,"
a coy voice whispered in the might, there was a lisp of excitement and an inconsistency within the words. The sentence fell off of Mike's lips, eyes peering at Will through the darkness. The sly way his eyes fanned sedately drew the pair to draw out the consensus of their meeting. Mike slapped a warm and eerily steady hand hard on his shoulder. The grip tightened and softened before Mike bit his cheek and swooped out the door and into midnight far too quickly for Will to process.
'Nancy told me where Jonathan took her for target practice'. Will voiced in his head, repeating it to himself as he glanced out the window into the navy darkness, not a movement, not even the disturbance of wind. A dead and stale sort of silence.

Mike feels useless when he finds out Nancy has a thing with firearms, turns out good aim runs in the family. With determination he intends to set things right with the real beloved weak link, the backbone of the party, and teach him a few things. (in other words) byler target practice
