Holly Wheeler grew up as normal as she could after everything. Eventually when she was old enough, she moved to Derry, Maine where she met her future husband, Stanley Uris. They lived the American Dream.

Cook outs with the neighbors, pool parties all summer, nights out on town, until Holly learned she was pregnant. Then their doors shut off from neighbors. The pool was left to turn green, the grill left cold all summer. But then in 2003 their baby girl was born, Chrissy Elle Wheeler. Their life returned to normal. The grill was lit, the pool was cleaned, and the Wheelers were back.

But then a mysterious message telling Holly to bring her family to Hawkins, Indiana immediately, but not say anything to Chrissy, or else.

Almost two years after the Wheelers moved, Chrissy starts experiencing unusual occurrences, but she doesn't know how to explain it.

After run-ins with her uncle's old 'friends', what felt like endless battles, and death, Chrissy notices this might be too much for her to handle.
