Ten years ago, one woman led a revolution that ravaged a kingdom and broke apart an empire. The kingdom of Ailthe has long since been abandoned, cities and skeletons buried beneath the rubble and lingering effects of magic. But the mysterious ruins soon become the destination of three wayward travelers, and their fateful meeting will set in motion a twisted plan to reunite the fallen empire.

When Alice, the hopelessly naive daughter of a nobleman, follows a strange boy through a portal, she's only in search of the world beyond the careful comforts of her sheltered home. But before long, she runs into Rapunzel, close acquaintance of the mirror.

Rapunzel knows she's the most beautiful person alive, yet the universe seems intent on denying what she wants most: the love of her life, who may or may not know she exists. But her love's eyes are set on another, leaving Rapunzel no other choice but murder.

And then there's Vanessa, a small-town girl from a kingdom free of magic. She only wants to find her missing grandmother, but she left nothing except a cryptic note on a strange map. Their journey through Ailthe reveals long-forgotten secrets, and all the while, Vanessa's grandmother waits with her own secrets.

After ten years, the world is begging for another change. It's time to finish what she started.

Ariella's biggest desire in life has always been such a simple one. She wants to be 'normal.' Unfortunately, that one simple wish has never been within her grasp. Coming from a long line of witches is bad enough, but she's even more different than the rest of her family. The fact that no one will give her any answers to why she's so different doesn't help matters. Her entire existence is shrouded in secrets that everyone around her refuses to reveal. After a family tragedy, she moves to a new town, and she gets her first chance to at least pretend to be 'normal.' For the first time, she's allowed to leave the house and go to an actual school. She makes friends, and she develops her first crush, that's quickly followed by her second. She's finally living the normal teenage life she'd dreamed of, but it doesn't last. Everything she believed about herself and the world around her is changed in an instant. Family secrets come to light one after another, turning her entire world upside down in the process. She quickly realizes that sometimes ignorance really is bliss, and maybe she didn't really want to know the answers to the questions she'd always asked, especially when one of these truths causes people close to her to turn their backs on her without hesitation. Before she can even recover from the shock, she's thrust into a war that she hadn't even known existed. Loyalties will be tested. She'll have to choose sides between all of the people she's come to care about. Will she stand with her family, her new friends, or the two boys who both hold a piece of her heart? One thing is for sure. She'll have to let go of her dream of 'normal.'

In a world of gods, pirates, and blessings, Phoenix Finch lives in a small coastal town secluded from the rest of the world. In a town that values rules, traditions, and law above all else, Phoenix has never known of anything else. When he is both rescued and kidnapped by the most fearsome pirate of them all, Nico Maheras, The West Wind, he is brought into a world so unlike his own. Scared and alone, he lashes out, and the captain lashes right back. As he is introduced to more and more of the crew, he finds that maybe, Pirates aren't as bad as he thought, and maybe the captain isn't as scary as he seems. He begins to settle into the ship, finding friendship and freedom. But when his sister is kidnapped by Redcoats for her blessing, he must take action and save her along with his new friends. But Phoenix will soon find out there is more to himself, the captain, and this story, than it seems. - - - This is the first draft of my novel, which took about a year to write. As such, this is somewhat unedited, and needs improvement. Constructive criticism is both wanted and appreciated. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Cover is mine, made with AutoDesk Sketchbook and BeFunky photo editor. - - - - Content warnings: Kidnapping, Violence, Cursing, Fighting, Torture, Death, mentions of past s*xual assault, and slavery. Please let me know if there's any other warnings that you think should be added! (I swear that makes it sound so much worse than it actually is. This is a lighthearted story about friendship, self discovery, family, and freedom.)
