Drew Benkins, living in a dingy one-bedroom apartment with her nine-year-old brother. Ainslee Hoffmann, working in a cafe to support her great aunt and eight-year-old nephew. The two have big dreams. Ones that seem unachievable. Or, dreams that require some money to get started; something they lacked, or so they thought. After running into each other three consecutive days in a row, they decide to allow the young boys to have a playdate. The two have experienced heavy levels of grief that they've yet to resolve, making it harder to open up to each other. Drew realizes she'll have to open up in order to keep themself, Ainslee, and the young boys safe. Do you not have a boyfriend to help you out?" Oh, fuck no. "Men are useless creatures that invade our earth." Ainslee snorts and covers her mouth. "I love that so much. I'm sorry for assuming, by the way. I'm bisexual so I assume everyone is bi unless I'm told otherwise." "Fair enough." "What about you? What's your sexuality?" I haven't come out to a single person yet. Even though my brother always asks if he's going to end up with a sister-in-law, I don't know how obvious it is. But, I do not care for men in the slightest. "I guess you'd consider me a lesbian." "Awesome!" Ainslee smiles. "When did you figure that out?" "When you asked me if I had a boyfriend to help me with my brother," I say, smiling and shaking my head.
