Feng Zhou paints entire scenes of striking images with deft keystrokes of a vivid vocabulary dipped in years of wisdom and life experience. The memories of this master poet are immortalized in his newest collection of poems, Be Yourself: A Poet’s Journey. Zhou’s recollection of his life journey combined with authoritative knowledge of Chinese history and culture make reading this collection an enjoyable and edifying experience.
A knowledgeable man on a variety of subjects, Zhou creates poetry that is at once both inspirational and educational. I have previously compared Zhou’s poetry to that of both William Carlos Williams and William Blake, and while those are still fair comparisons, it is evident that Zhou’s work is truly in a category all its own. It has been an honor and a privilege to edit this remarkable collection of poems, and I am confident you will enjoy them as much as I have.
