In June 1986, Nicky Roth, a city-dwelling New Yorker, has his life turned upside down as he moves to the small town of Raven Brooks in Pennsylvania. There, he forms an unexpected bond with a rebellious girl across the street, Erin Peterson. Together, they formed an unexpected bond. However, everything comes to an abrupt halt when he meets Erin's father, a former theme park manager beloved by the town. Despite their hospitality, snippets of conversation from locals and delving into the history unleash a crescendo of a horrific past from an enigma that nags at him - a crescendo of horrific past that Erin seems to brush off and let stay buried.
