"If the attempt to kill Vecna and his curse had gone slightly differently, maybe he would still be alive," Dustin's eyes teared up at the mention of his friend that he pictured choking on his own blood every time he closed his eyes. Steve watched soberly, unable to tell his younger friend the new reality. If only he had died, a small part of himself thought, maybe that would have been better...for Dustin's and Eddie's sake.

Reeling from the aftermath of Vecna's first four attacks, the group try to settle back into what a regular a life they could manage, all the while too aware of what lurks beneath in a dark corner of the Upside Down. Meanwhile, an unexpected member seems to take the recent events surprisingly hard.
