Movie adaptation, and version of the Story I'll be using, by Stephen Spielberg.

this story takes place during the first hours of the invasion. nothing is truly happening yet and everything is quite normal despite a few major storms around the globe that seem to be causing blackouts.

the Story follows Murphy Pendleton, a Police officer and loving Husband of his wife, Sarah Pendleton, and their perilous Journey to find safety from the mechanized monstrosities that are the Tripods and their goal to wipe out humanity and claim our planet for themselves.

the question is, will they survive the subsequent purging of humanity? you'll only find out by reading further into the story.
