Laurel West doesn't believe in fate. She doesn't believe that people are meant to be together, and that every person has a soul mate. She doesn't believe that sharing a glance with a stranger in a downtown coffee shop means anything more than what it is. No, she doesn't believe in any of it, but her best friend and roommate of four years, Quinn Ryland, does. So, when Laurel locks eyes Diego Martinez on her way out of a small coffee shop and can't seem to shake the way it made her feel, she doesn't know what to make of it and finds herself easily persuaded by the belief of fate to go out and find him. What she discovers, though, is not at all what she expected, and before she knows it she's being lead down secret tunnels and followed on train rides that are supposed to bring her back home. She's being detained in New York City, escorted home by somebody who isn't at all what she originally expected, and even more surprising to her is that she's more involved in all of this than she ever imagined.
