To most, Lauren Polmore is a regular, popular, gorgeous, fifteen-year-old who is dating the star football player, but Lauren is actually Luna, Luna Firebird. Luna and her family are part of a secret world, a world that has been structured to lie beneath Earth's surface. Luna and her sisters are a popular targets for their enemies, the Durons. After the Durons first attack, the Arians snap to attention, ready to fight.


One of Luna's sisters is captured and Luna and her other sisters follow clues, ending up in Paris, France. In Paris, they search for clues and eventually find themselves under the famous city. There, they train for a brief period of time before being sent off on their mission. After another person is captured and Luna is betrayed, she closes herself off, focusing on the mission at hand.
